Joni Mitchell Returns to Hollywood Bowl After 24 Years for a Headlining Show Featuring the Joni Jam

Legendary musician Joni Mitchell is set to perform her first headlining show in Los Angeles in over 24 years at the Hollywood Bowl on October 19, 2024. This marks a significant return to the iconic venue where she last appeared as a guest at Brandi Carlile’s concert in October 2023.

The performance will feature the “Joni Jam”, a concept that Mitchell developed after hosting musical gatherings at her home. The “Joni Jam” is a collaborative and spontaneous session where Mitchell and other artists play songs from her extensive catalog, as well as covers and improvisations.

Tickets for the show will go on sale to the general public on Friday, February 2, at 10 a.m. Presale access for tickets starts on Wednesday, January 31.

Mitchell, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest songwriters and guitarists of all time, has been more active in recent years, dispelling speculation of her retirement after a debilitating brain aneurysm in 2015. She made her official comeback at the Echoes Through the Canyon festival in June 2023, and has since performed at the Newport Folk Festival, the Gorge, and the Hollywood Bowl as a guest.

Mitchell is also nominated for Best Folk Album for “Joni Mitchell at Newport” at the upcoming Grammys, where she could potentially win her 10th Grammy award. Previously, she received the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002.
